Position Summary

Client is looking to hire a Construction Project Manager for upcoming Construction Management Projects involving construction management, inspection, and coordination for the rehabilitation of underground rail stations and stations construction.

Job Description
The Construction Project Manager will report to the Manager of Projects (MOP) or the Operations Manager. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for the on-site construction management of underground rail tunnel and station rehabilitation construction projects located in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City area. Previous underground rail tunnel and station related Construction Project Manager experience must include work associated with any of the following rail agencies; Delaware River Port Authority/ PATCO, SEPTA, New Jersey Transit, NYCT, LIRR, MNR or Amtrak. The Construction Project Manager may be required to supervise additional site staff, typically from 2 to 10 personnel, including construction inspectors, office engineers, clerical staff, project controls, document control, estimators, etc.

 

Primary responsibilities for the Project Manager include:
• Creating a Beyond Zero site safety culture
• Outage coordination
• Constructability
• Writing contract correspondence
• Construction quality control and quality assurance
• Change management including coordination of field and design changes, time impact analyses, claims mitigation and disputes resolution
• Issues management and resolution
• Review and approval of construction schedules and progress payments
• Provide daily, weekly and monthly status reports
• Coordinate with third party stakeholders, including freight & commuter railroads, property owners, municipalities, code officials, historic preservation officers, and the Federal Railroad Administration as may be required in the course of supervising a project
• Run weekly contract progress meetings
• Document management
• Contract closeout
• Using Primavera Contract Management (PCM), Prolog or other construction management related software

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold a current Professional Engineers License and the ability to obtain a PE license in NJ, PA or NY
• Engineering or Construction Management Degree
• 10 or more years construction management experience working in an active rail environment with a background in underground station or tunnel rehabilitation construction
• Project experience on at least 2 underground station or tunnel rehabilitation projects for the Delaware River Port Authority/ PATCO, SEPTA, New Jersey Transit, NYCT, LIRR, MNR or Amtrak as a Construction Project Manager or Resident Engineer
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong communication skills and proficiency at writing contract correspondence

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Resident of Delaware Valley or NYC area
• Experienced in Primavera Contract Manager (PCM) or Prolog and Primavera P6
• General background and understanding of rail construction, signals, systems, electrical and communication
• Ability to become a Certified Construction Manager with 1 year of hiring
• Physical ability to traverse construction site to perform inspect the work including climbing ladders and scaffolding
