Job Information

SRA is looking for a motivated ”Project Engineer (NYS PE)” to join one of our prestigious clients for NYCHA/SCA/MTA/DASNY/NYC Parks projects, Location: Long Island City, NY 11106. Candidates should have a professional, pleasant demeanor with ability to work in a fast paced environment.

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning all project work, being part of a team to bring the project from design to completion, controlling each of the steps along the way, and solving any problems that occur. The project engineer works under the supervision of the project managers throughout the entire project. Project Engineer is required to be detail oriented, with a focus on cost efficiency; each phase of an operation is evaluated, planned, possibly re-engineered and built with time and budget in mind.

 

Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Project Manager and Superintendents on Project Deliverables.
  • Management of self-performed work and key sub-contractors.
  • Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and are in compliance with contract documents.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in updating the project and look ahead schedules and ensure milestones are met.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
  • High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  • Obtain and update all the construction permits as necessary.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Organize meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Process and estimate change orders and requests for information
  • Manage junior members of the team
  • Understand NYC DOB health & safety requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • NYS Professional Engineering License
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience is required.
  • Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis.
